New Education Seat For Students, Professors

SPJ Oregon has a new Educator Seat on its board of directors specifically for college students or professors.

We’re looking for any college students actively studying or participating in journalism as well as journalism or media professors. We hope that this candidate will help engage students and educators across our region.

This position will have all the same voting power as other board seats. This candidate doesn’t need to have an active SPJ membership, but they do need to be based in Oregon or SW Washington.

This is a new seat, so you’ll get the opportunity to help the rest of the board determine what it’ll look like.

HOW TO APPLY

Like the other open seats, candidate applications for the Education Seat are due by 11:59pm Friday, Oct. 1. This is a one-year term, so it’ll run until Sept. 2022.

Apply by emailing info@spjoregon.com with a few sentences explaining your journalism experience (or your professional goals in the journalism industry) and why you'd like to join the board. Please include "Education Seat Application" in the subject line.

We’ll include this information in ballots issued to all SPJ members in the region. Elections will be open until Friday, Oct. 9.
